Huguette Bertrand: “Moon talk” and other poems

Poetryzine Magazine presents the selected poetry by the Canadian poetess Huguette Bertrand

Huguette Bertrand

A matter of hope

From ages to ages

the light is still burning

in the deepest nights

when the raging storms

try to switch it off

the gentle sun always

keeps the blindness away

when a gleam is still at sight

no more grief in dark old nights

since the blaze of the gentle light

will always ignite hope and peace

from time to time for happy endings

in the good nights

Breaking bricks

Break all the walls down

and let dreams come out from darkness

letting them expand in the wilderness

of all memories behind closed doors

Break all the walls down

to let the flowers grow and all the trees also

fragrance and shade will radiate

the whole landscape of wounded minds

laying on the canvas of dusty times

Let's take the bricks of walls

to build houses with open smiling doors

to let in the wind blowing words

crushing dramas of lands

with peace on hand

Invitation

Come

come close to these words

gentle they won't hurt you

flying above arguments and rumors

together they are called poetry

and could grab your imagination

and play tricks on your mind

letting you feel like a bird

standing on the branch of an old oak

or maybe near a pond

watching frogs croaking

and even like a poet watching the blue sky

while downstairs people are crying

like hell on the roads

nothing to eat no shelter

and some picturing the whole agony

since these words are only pleading

for peace and a good night sleep

come

come closer

the trick is over

Laughing stars

Don't miss the stars

like eyes watching us

from the dark roof above

seeds of light all over

glances free of charge

no blurred windows

a perfect view wherever you are standing

just stop and look up

to watch the stars laughing

even disappeared in the morning

will come back late next night

in a wink you will see them

spinning in your eyes

Night stage

A night stage

is a grand work

displayed in silence

as dusk sets

it makes its nest

in starry eyes

when the moonlight passes by

setting ablaze amazed hearts

in a sharing silence

it shakes all dreams

and all dramas

Seasons

Fall is misfortune for trees

showing themselves naked

with branches embracing

the greyness dripping from the eyes

of lost people passing by

When spring shows up

trees start looking smart

drawing smiles on faces of people

walking around

Since summer is scorched

and winter is frozen

let’s hope for newborn leaves

swirling around people

drawing cheerful poems

in their mind

Moon talk

Since the roots of love

are in the Moon light

why are so many

stepping downward

with so sad feelings

wandering in the void

in search of heart beats

let's start over the whole story

and put words together

lining them on the time being

for a heavenly moon talk

shall we meet again ?
