Poetryzine magazine presents the selected poetry by the Maltese poet Mary Anne Zammit
I carry you within me
I carry you within me
Like a shooting star,
In the universe of my heart.
I kiss you for long, my lips juicy,
And honey on my swollen lips.
My voice echoes like sirens,
Ready to sing for men.
This time for you.
Our song and movements again.
Inside the petals of gold.
Nobody knows.
Secret for us.
I carry you within me.
But you refrain.
So I kiss you again,
Hoping that the magic between us captures your heart.
And keeps you, there
Come closer.
It is very cold outside.
When you are not there.
The Moon
And you ask me, are you in love.
And I say, maybe yes.
I am in love with the moon.
She sleeps on my breasts.
Our Story
Our story is like the sea,
No end, no return.
Our story of cycles, one after the other.
Strange how I find myself yearning for your eyes.
Like the sea.
No end, no return.
