You
carry within you
a great gregarious soul
You
esteemed chronicler
of a life lived in ever shortening shadows
exposing the banal truth of lies
Poetry
the unsubtle act of rebellion
in the midst of atrocities poetry stands
against an uprising
on divine rights of man
Victims
tossed hither and yon
remaining silent in war torn zones of
obliterated lands
littered with hearts of stone and ash
Poets
fearless writers of truth
for human rights
for innocent children
for justice
for all creatures great and small
Passion runs high
words pour like rain
you righteous poets
refuse to abandon the goal
to hail the rallying cry of freedom, no matter the cost
Sent by God to an incalcitrant world
your truth sustains
you are colour in colourless lives
Poets speak during the great silence.....
Come
Come, watch this sunset
with me my lovely one
Come, let's immerse ourselves
in the midst of the bounty of nature
Come, let's celebrate the beauty
while a solemn twilight mixes its mystery twinkle in an ebony sky
Come, enjoy the music of a magical symphony played
on the multiverse's instruments
of comets and planets
in orbital fascination...
Homeless
We are homeless
No shelter found under the naked sky
Our army is weak
Defending the indefensible
We are sick
Our elders worry
While kids scurry to and fro, and poor widows cry alone
The fields lie fallow in the cold
We feel alone
No welfare state
nor bon vivant political leaders able to help
We are homeless
Thrown from our abode
Our place of refuge
Our very identity lost
We go to pieces as our kids go to seed
Animals and birds die scrounging for a bit
Yet isn't we who created fertile ground for another extinction
People are shameless
We are homeless
But we will forever remember the jokers
Who enjoyed burning us to the ground
